Message from Pearls Founder, Christopher Dyson
Like many of you, I never got to meet my Grandpa. Worse still I have no footage of him or his voice. I would give anything to listen to his life stories or to hear him wish me Happy Birthday or Merry Christmas each year. Who wouldn’t, right?
As a result, I have always wanted my folks to send me videos of them and their life so I have something I can keep and show my kiddies when they get older. You always think you will have time but then on April 19th,
Katie’s passing was, without question the cruelest thing I have ever seen. But watching Katie fight was also one of the most inspiring things I have ever seen. I remember thinking that if we could have just “bottled” a fraction of Katie and her fight, she would have inspired anyone lucky enough to see it.
It was there and then that I decided I had to create the Pearls platform. A place to record and save your life’s most important moments, memories and experiences for now and coming generations.
Share ‘Private Pearl’ messages with your family and friends to be unlocked on future dates of your choice. If you want to leave a message for your granddaughter on her wedding day or sing Happy Birthday to your son when he turns 50? That’s what Pearls is for.
I also wanted to let people post their Pearls of wisdom publically if they wish. If by sharing how you dealt with that bully, built that business or fought cancer, you could help someone you had never met going through a similar situation? I thought that was quite a beautiful idea.
I know the story behind Pearls is a bit of a sad one, but my hope is that it will be a positive, inspirational place where the content is compelling, precious and fun. Ultimately, my dream would be that somehow it gives us an opportunity to help find a cure for cancer.
Thank you so much for giving us a minute of your time, and I hope you enjoy the Pearls app. Pearls is dedicated to the memory of Kaitlin Shannon.
